Any Given Sunday....and my daughter

Well, Columbus has been writing and writing and writing and then posting his writing to this website, but it’s all been lost…Columbus, I hate to say, is a bit of a nit when it comes to computers. He’s been writing in his journal, and thinking – believing – that it will somehow make it onto this website. I watched the end of the movie Any Given Sunday last night – “On any given Sunday you’re gonna win or you’re gonna lose. The point is – can you win or lose like a man?” I was talking to the Louster about this movie and recited this quote. My daughter asked: “What about girls?” This stopped me. “Well, there weren’t any women in the room.” “Girls play football too,” she said. She’s right. It was the right message in the context of this movie but in life, if you want to take this quote and hang onto it, it’s gotta be more inclusive. We all have days when winning and losing is on the line, when we have to make choices about how we’re going to respond to winning and losing.
So here’s my revised quote: “On any given Sunday you’re gonna win or you’re gonna lose. The point is – can you win or lose like a decent human being – with grace, and honour and integrity?”
I’ll clue Columbus in about the computer and how websites work. It’s beyond me how this guy ever discovered anything!!!
