Early Decmeber mish-mash
December 7, 2007
I went to Mark Kozub's book launch last night and picked up his latest offering called: The Uptown Browns. Judging from his reading, I'm going to really enjoy this book. It was a great turn-out, for a cold, December night, and the Raving Poets Band backed up Mr. Kozub, throughout his reading and while he signed books. Playing around with the chords to Jane Siberry’s Love is Everything with Raving guitarist Randall Edwards, I think we both grew to love the song all over again – to understand the simple beauty of it, again. By he way, this was the Raving Poets' fourth event in about a week...two Raving Poet nights at Yianni's Taverna, a great 50th birthday party, and Mark's book launch.
One the way to the book launch I had the Gorecki symphony (number 3) cranked in the maxi-van and realized that music never moved me to tears when I was young. It's only now, as I approach...well, let's just say, as I get older, that music has found this new power. And I was there last night, listening to this powerful piece of music, and "click". "Click-- Click-click-click-click-click--" Ahhhh, the CD is skipping and repeating like some Tourette Syndrome hip-hopper. Goddamn it! Now, I'll be resorting to the computer. Will the Mac be able to read through the clicks? If it does, I'll just burn myself a new edition.
I bought a collection of Hafiz poems last night, along with The Uptown Browns. And I picked up the new Quill and Quire. Thumbing through the Q & Q I see something familiar...It’s the book cover for Doubting Yourself to the Bone in a Cormorant Books ad. Lovely!
Christmas is almost here and I’ve done nothing! Nothing! Help! What does my wife want for Christmas?!?!? I know all the practical things....I heard her mention those, but its the one romantic, lovely thing that MUST be part of each Christmas....

Thomas, you are plenty romantic. You are one of those renaisance guys that all girls would love to have by their side. So do whatevermoves you, it will be good!

I agree with Karen, and have an idea. As a Christmas present to all your female friends, please allow us to send you the email addresses of OUR significant others, so that you can contact them and suggest a perfect gift for each one of us…something like a surprise whisk-away to the exclusive and very private Mariaggi’s hotel in Winnipeg, or some snowed in B & B on a small island in the middle of Lake Winnipeg. Or maybe a contractor to come in and build an addition off the back of the house so that we can finally have our own office space. I’m just saying :-)
