El Día de los Muertos and Pinsky...together?
March 18, 2010
Yesterday, I had to rein in Pinsky. He threatened to be out of control. He rose up like the mad son-of-a-bitch Zorba, existential idiot he is and wanted to say, and do, things. It was a wild day yesterday. There are things happening around the Columbus book that are exciting and a bit frightening. Do I dare to dream that big?
And the new book is progressing. I’ve received my first package of information from Mexico and it’s brilliant. I’m letting Pinsky read over it – letting him take it in so that it becomes a part of him. And, El Día de los Muertos is looking like a really great place to stop the book – a perfect end-point. (My own Under the Volcano journey – ha!!).

I love the way this quad camera app on my iPhone works. Sometimes it’s the perfect tool. This is Pinsky’s writing. He’s writing about himself, as usual, and the fact his soon-to-be ex-wife has a tattoo of a small lizard — “It’s a goddamned dragon,” she says. — on her right breast…and his concerns about the damage such a tattoo might do to a baby — you know…fear of lizards or reptiles or snakes as they grow older…sigh. I know I have a fear of lizards. But I was never breast-fed.
It was my friend Leah’s birthday yesterday. And my father-in-law Harry’s birthday too. Happy birthday to you both…
