Feet on the ground
September 6, 2010
We’re back from London and Paris. Had a fantastic week of meeting publishers, editors and of course, the Oprah of the UK – Richard and Judy. Found out about Waiting for Columbus being picked for this book club a few weeks ago and couldn’t say anything. This book club, sponsored by W.H. Smith in the UK, puts Columbus, with a Richard and Judy sticker on its beautiful face – in about 550 stores across the UK – at the front of the store!
Here’s a link to an Edmonton Journal article on the whole thing (and yes, I was waiting for a third glass of wine on the terraced lounge at the hotel. And yes, giddy. I was giddy.
Also, while we were away, The Hollywood Reporter took note of the pending film based on Waiting for Columbus. It’s referenced in the Journal article, but
here it is.
I’ll write more here in the coming days. For now, feet on the ground. Working in the gardens. Unpacking. Drinking coffee. And it feels like a wonderful fall day…Brilliant.
This shot of the Sorbet team in London was taken by the lovely Naseem Rakha whose book, The Crying Tree, is also a Richard and Judy pick!

This morning, three geese flew overhead as I stood silly and silent in my backyard. Welcome home travellers, welcome home. Good hunting indeed! XOP

Just catching up. Wow! Exciting news! I’m so happy for you. Can’t imagine how it must feel. Your book has touched many people and to have a film made is quite the achievement.
Congratulations, Thomas! So when are you quiting your day job? :)
