Heliconians, Toronto, Grey Cup...Doubting

T he ’muk is off to Toronto next week to give a “lecture” on Doubting Yourself to the Bone (the book, not actually living with doubt) at the Heliconian Club. The Heliconian Club, according to its website, is:

“A Meeting Place for Professional Women in the Arts and Letters. The Toronto Heliconian Club is the oldest association of its kind in Canada. Founded in 1909 to give women in the arts and letters an opportunity to meet socially and intellectually, the club holds to its original purpose while responding to the changes of contemporary life.”

Cool.

I am looking forward to giving this talk. Admittedly, it will be a bit more difficult because I have been living in the new book for the past nine or ten months. But it ought to be fun.

I’m going to meet Cormorant Books Publisher Marc Cote, for the first time. And, I’m going to lunch with Ms. Hilary McMahon, my agent, (Vice-President of Westwood Creative Artists), for the first time.

Mrs. ’muk has never been to Toronto. And it’s been years for me. I’m sure the Grey Cup celebrations will only add to the delirium.

Looks like there weren’t any other bloggers at your lecture last night! I’m too shy to share my site address here but I have just posted about how much I enjoyed the evening. My friend and I drove home discussing the idea of having that glass of scotch just sitting there as you write.

Dear Lisa,
I had such a great evening with this group! Thank you for this! Yeah, the idea of a pay-off in wait, as you face the blank page, as you struggle with “the trees.” (I found your web site) I’m humbled by your comments and pleased that you enjoyed the night. I did too!!!

Could it be that we were in TO at the same time? If so, darn! I finished up my Children’s Book Week tour in the Big City Thursday and Friday, then returned to Winnipeg on Saturday. Ah well, I’m sure our paths will cross again.

Yes, same city. Same time. Seven million people.
Don’t know why we didn't run into you.
