Humanity is Awesome--The Fugitives impress!!!!
March 15, 2007
I SPENT AN HOUR SMILING INSIDE AN INCREDIBLE GROOVE last night as Vancouver spoken-word group/band The Fugitives performed at the Kasbar lounge (EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada), as part of an evening with the Raving Poets.
It was one of those performances that you experience and wonder how you got off paying only $5. Now, I’m part of the Raving Poets band – I didn’t pay to get in – I was already in. But there were 70 people in the room last night and they were treated to one hell of a show – for $5!!! I would have paid $25, at least. Spoken-word as performance extraordinaire!!! I was completely blown away!!! Powerful voices. Incredible musicians. Great writing. Scintillating, tight performances!!! It took me hours to calm down and finally get some sleep. The group, Brendan McLeod, Barbara Adler, Mark Berube, and Steve (who sat in with the Raving Poets Band on guitar for a few poets) now continue on their cross-Canada tour. Godspeed Fugitives. I hope to see you again real soon!
A shame if you missed this stellar show! They'd be a great addition for the The Roar for the coming year. Hmmm...

I hear you, Thomas. I didn’t get to bed until 2:00 or so. What a great show. I’m glad we did it. Lets do more!
