OH CANADA!!! What the hell's going on?
December 2, 2008
Hey, if it weren’t so utterly pathetic I’d find the goings on in Ottawa these days really interesting. Oh the irony!!!!! This is a new low in Canadian politics!!! Seventy-four per cent of us did not vote Liberal and now Mr. Dion is on the verge of becoming Canada’s Prime Minister?!?!?! I’d rather have Elizabeth May, who, regardless of the one-trick-pony feel to her Green party (sorry, but the Green party has yet to prove to me that it’s anything but a one-trick-pony), at least has intelligence and heart and passion and is articulate. It offends me that the Bloc Québécois (another, more entrenched one-trick-pony) are in a position to call the shots about the entire country. The Bloc??? I don't believe the majority of the people in Quebec want to separate. Not for a second. But the Bloc is a party dedicated to breaking up Canada -- will settle for demanding greater power and more money for Quebec, AND never fails to complain about contemporary Canada. What the hell?!?! (How the Bloc gets a seat at any national debate is beyond me. It doesn't seem interested in the affiars of Canada, rather, it seems only interested in Quebec.) Now, the BLOC is possibly part of a coalition government that will have a huge say in the affairs of the entire country. Isn't that odd? Dude, give me a goddamned election. I don’t care how tired I am of freakin’ elections. An election is preferable to this coalition. GIVE ME AN ELECTION!!!!
Give me a new PC leader and a new Liberal party leader. I want a Canadian Obama. A leader who can inspire. Harper? Dion? That NDP guy? None of these men could inspire me to buy a pack of gum. Elizabeth May could though. At the very least, she’s not an arrogant idiot. Can’t say that about the rest.

Thomas,
In regards to the recent coalition talk, it is at the very least extemely exciting in terms of political precendent. However when thinking of this issue, I refer you to your Ken Robinson quote: “if you are not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original.” This is, to say the least, original and the dialogue it is generating on the praxis of Canadian government is very encouraging.
