One day.
August 23, 2009
About 25 hours until Waiting for Columbus is released. It’s been a long, wonderful and surprising year. I feel blessed. I just double-clicked Silent Night in iTunes in honour of the book. The song plays a key role in the book and it was my daily companion while writing. Tuesday will be a normal day, just like every other day except that my baby will be out in the world…and that needs to be marked in some way. Not sure what I’ll do. Tuesday. A dram of really good scotch. A great cigar. A walk in the woods. A walk into a book store…something….
And then, head down and to work on the new book.

What is the protocol here? Should I buy the book in the store tomorrow, or should I wait for the launch?

It works best for me if you buy at a store because it gets counted then.

Hey Thomas, seems your day is all set. Nice way to spend the day – option 2: come to Jasper, bring the girls. Veuve Cliquot and chocolate chip cookies beside Medicine Lake.

Raymond bought a copy at the airport; proceeded to text me “all the good lines” – had to tell him to stop after 10 pages. Bien fait! I am green and blue with envy – but in a good way.
