Nothing but love and the spirit of giving in these veins today. I’m sure I frustrate my wife when I look her in the eye and say repeatedly, “I want nothing for Christmas. Zero. I need nothing. I want nothing. Nothing.” Watching a bunch of gleeful, joyful elementary students at Victoria School last night was a “gift.” Kids kill me. They sang and danced and they appeared to be having such fun! And there was Christmas in this program!!!! It was there. Regardless of the fact they named the concert a “Solstice” celebration, Christmas was there. Watching these children and their happy faces….My God! It was most excellent.
And this morning, it was pajamas day at school. All those girls in their pink pajamas in the school yard – looked like a field full of flamingos. Amazing. Made me happy to see so much pink.
Look, I don’t care whether you’re a Muslim, or a Buddhist, or a Jehovah’s Witness, or a complete Pagan – we are related by our humanness. I will extend my hand and wish you peace and happiness. And I may say: Merry Christmas, because those two words mean so much more than “I’m a Christian and you’re not.” For the record, I don’t actually think of myself as Christian, more Buddhist, Zen, Taoist with Christian overtones. However, this entire society, in fact, the Western World, is founded on Christian values…It’s the milieu of this entire culture.
