2008•05•12 ~ That’s three!!! Picador UK is on board!

Picador is in! Picador bought “Columbus at 4AM” this morning!! That’s three publishers for COLUMBUS. I believe the scheduled publication date in the UK is spring 2010. In Canada and the US, it’s still tentatively fall 2009. I’m absolutely thrilled to be in the UK. Had a very nice chat with my Picador editor Charlotte, this morning (early evening for her). I love the enthusiasm around this book. I can hardly wait to read it!! (HA)

Picador is an imprint of Pan Macmillan, which is one of the largest fiction and non-fiction book publishers in the UK and includes the imprints of Pan, Picador and Macmillan Children’s Books. The company has offices in 41 countries world-wide and operates in over 70 countries.

Picador publishes outstanding international writing, fiction and non-fiction, in both hardback and paperback, and has numerous prize winners on its list. With an established reputation for groundbreaking non-fiction, publishing reportage, literary biography and memoir; Picador has also established a formidable poetry list.

A special thank you to my agents, Hilary and Natasha for their hard work in placing the book overseas. Thank you. Thank you. Okay, more later.

You bastard! Huzzah! Well done, once again. You’re international, dude. You’re a freakin’ BRAND. Pretty soon we’ll be seeing Trofimuk keychains and shit. As soon as the Trofimuk signature keyboard comes out, I’m buying one.

You’re on fire. I’d drink to you if I could. I’m proud of you, my friend.

Laurie, That’s pretty well got the English-speaking bits of the world covered….seeing as how Picador wanted the Commonwealth (excluding Canada)....Now, I get to work on the manuscript — push it up to another level….make it better than it is.
It’s been a wild ride!

Mike, Thanks.
I had a quiet drink of 18-year old single malt last night. Next Tuesday, I get notes from three editors. A wonderful group of editors. They all happen to be women, which makes me very happy.
See you Wednesday!

Jolly good, old chap (said with my best fake English accent, naturally).

You’ve pursued the dream for as long as I’ve known you, and it’s great to know that dreams do come true. Albeit with a ton of hard work, some fine wine, a good single malt or two (or six)...

Let me know when the keychains are available, won’t you?

Thanks Nicole, Moira, Adam.
Your keychains are on the way.

Moira? Moira? Shouldn’t that be a Scottish accent? The only Moira I know ought to have a Scottish accent….hmmmmm…

Aye, laddie, but ‘jolly good’ is particulary (peculiarly?) English, so I went with the English accent on this occasion.

I didna think I’d confined to just one wee accent. Och, that would be daft. But, if I had to choose the one o’er the other, you know Scots wuid win, han’s doon. Because, if it’s nae Scottish…
