The US paperback is coming and it's beautiful
September 23, 2010
The American paperbacks arrived earlier this week. A big, lovely box of them. The American paperback is released in the US on October 5th. If you’re in the States, pick one up. It’s all alone down there. It would make a great Christmas gift for your assistant/boss/wife/husband/
partner/mailman/teacher/you name it….
Did I mention that a news story just came out in the UK announcing sales of the books in the Richard and Judy Book Club and that Waiting for Columbus has sold just under 10,000 copies in the first few weeks? Well, it’s true! If that isn’t nice, I don’t know what is?
On Writing:
I’m ready to disappear. Because that’s what writers do – they come out and promote their books and then they disappear. Writing is a lonely business. You sit in front of a computer screen, or a blank page, and it’s just you and the words…The writing continues to go well – a week on the Mexico book, and then a week on the Scottish island book, and then back to the Mexico book, and so on. The difference between these two is so profound that there is no overlap. The imagination is firing on all cylinders. I’m happy when I’m writing.

That’s wonderful Thomas! I’ll let my American friends know. So how many copies sold in Canada? I’m always amazed how Canadian talent has to be recognized in other countries before we embrace our own.
Amazing how you can work with two stories at a time! Talk about being ambidexterous! I tend to take on the lives of my characters and if I were working on two books at a time, well, I would go nuts. :) Just saying.
Good luck and more successes to you!
Dolly

I’m one of those thousands from the UK-that’s how I discovered you! Columbus kept for holiday reading, looking forward to escaping the wild and wet weather (which I love too)today for warmer climes and getting stuck into some real reading. Enjoying your sorbets -thank you.
Happy Fall!
