"Waiting for Columbus" cover arrives!!

Still working on the copy edit of Waiting for Columbus. I’m about halfway. Got a lovely surprise this week when an e-mail arrived from New York with the proposed cover of the book. Wow!!!! It’s dark but with an inherent hopefulness. The colour pallet is completely unique. It’s beautiful. I thought about making this jpeg my desktop, but remembered that this is just the beginning of the journey, that this book and its cover will be around for a very, very long time. So, I am being patient. Slowly growing to appreciate the nuances of this cover. It has depth – you can look into this image. I can almost smell the ocean!

I have to send out a HUGE bouquet of thank yous to Mr. Randall Edwards, who shot me on Sunday, and delivered the pictures Thursday, in time to get this picture into Doubleday’s catalogue. A thousand thank yous, Mr. Eds. If you want to see just how good Randall is, go here.

I naughtily looked up the cover on the Random House site, Thomas. It is gorgeous. Congratulations. Now people of America: buy it!
