Waiting for Columbus, the movie...
May 3, 2012
This is the way I dream it. These would be my picks for the movie rendition of “Waiting for Columbus” — with Monica Bellucci playing Consuela, Sean Bean (most recently from “Game of Thrones”) playing Columbus, and Jean Reno playing Emile. This would be magic!

I’ve always imagined Columbus having the face of Hugh Jackman. Apart from being extremely good looking he is a great actor. Thomas you have to watch The Fountain after that you’ll agree with me that there is no other actor that can play Columbus :).
I think Monica Bellucci is too beautiful to be Consuelo. I can’t imagine a woman like Monica Bellucci having a ‘troubled’ love life.. I imagine Valeria Golino, looks wise at least, would make a better Consuelo.
I can’t wait to see the film :)
I thought I was playing Consuela! I swear I had the contract right here…

Also soundtrack by Clint Mansell please :) you want I come direct the movie? :) :)
Couldn’t they give Monica Bellucci a scar? Rough her up a bit?
Yes, Stephanie…you can be Consuela once Monica turns us down. (You’re like twins anyway!!!)
Yes, Valeria Golino would be really fine as well.
Hugh Jackman as Columbus? Maybe. He might be too young and beautiful…

Thomas, I have not seen Monica Bellucci on screen but find it interesting that of the three photos, your Consuela looks like an imaginary flash of beauty and your Columbus and Emile look like people of experience. I suggest a beauty like this for your Columbus stories instead.
In my mind Consuela has always a generous mouth and strong features with a beauty that becomes more evident as the character develops. (different for every reader I imagine)

I hadn’t thought about age.. Hugh is 44 and yes agreed he is beautiful. I pictured him as Colombus cos i think he can really act. Watch The Fountain! The depth of emotion, despair at the loss of a loved one that him and Rachel Weisz manage to convey to the viewers is amazing.
I have to agree with Karen re Consuelo. I never thought of her as being obviously beautiful but as someone whose beauty comes through the more you get to know her.
